Rappelling / Abseiling

Trælanípan

Level: Trained

Trælanípan, which means the Slave's Peak, is a 142 m high peak where the old, and lazy slaves where thrown off in the olden days. It's from this locations the famous picture of the "floating lake" or the "lake above the ocean" is taken. What makes this rappel/abseil so special, is that you don't have any contact to the cliffs for about 80 meters of the trip down, while the boat is waiting below to pick you up.

The hike starts in the village Miðvágur. Duration of activity 2-4 hours.

Drangarnir

Level: Intermediate/Expert

This is a long hike. But the view of Sørvágsfjord, the sea cliffs on the south side of Sørvágur, at the end when we reach Drangarnir (meaning Sea Stacks), and Tindhólmur (The Peak Islet) is worth every step of the hike.

The hike starts in the village Sørvágur. Duration of the hike is 4-6 hours.

Niðan á Egg

Level: Beginner

This is a hidden gem when it comes to hiking. This hike is short and easy. The view is breathtaking over the seastacks Dunnes drangarnir. From there we go to Trælanípan, "The Slave's Peak" where old and lazy slaves were thrown off in the old days. The view from Trælanípan is known for "the floating lake" or "the lake above the ocean" illusion. Krosstindur, Húsafelli and Malinstindur

These 3 mountain tops, are my favorite hike in the Faroe Islands. The hike starts with the great view over Trøllkonufingur. Then it goes up to the top of Krosstindur - 574 m. From Krosstindur we hike to Húsafelli - 591 m - and at last, we are summiting the highest mountain of the village, Malinstindur - 683 m. On our hike we will see some historic locations, such as ruins from hideouts villagers used to evade pirates.

This village is the former home of 17 Faroese Prime Ministers, and they used to own this part of the land.
